Langston Pediatric Therapy

I guess it is true that history repeats itself! I could begin my bio the same way Laura's dream came to be and that is she was asked by a parent to provide services over the summer. Laura and I met through our children being in class together. She asked me if I could provide services over the summer and the rest, as they say, "is history." I, Caron Prettyman, am very excited to begin offering one-on-one tutoring services for grades Kindergarten through 5th at Langston Pediatrics beginning June 3, 2013.

My teaching career began in the Ottawa (Illinois) Public School District. Through my 7 years of teaching Fourth Grade, I had many students with IEPs who were mainstreamed into my classroom. My career then brought an opportunity to be a center director at a Sylvan Learning Center. Among the everyday responsibilities of running a center, I designed, monitored, and reviewed the program progress for each student and met with parents after every 36 hours of instruction. Life brought my husband and I a relocation and another career opportunity for me. I began working at Mooseheart Child City and School. I worked as a library media aide and team taught various library activities for grades Kindergarten through High School.

All of my teaching experiences have blessed me with the opportunity to have learned from and worked with a wide range of students, but there is one component of learning that is so important to any child...self-confidence and building that confidence. My tutoring approach is child directed and works on nurturing those "seeds" of confidence from which new possibilities and a child's success can grow.
